In 1937, William R. Bootz purchased the assets of Crescent Stove Works in Evansville, Indiana, and began manufacturing sheet metal stampings and sheet metal assemblies. One year later, the company became Evansville's first war factory, fabricating steel products for the United State Army and Navy. Bootz Manufacturing earned six Army/Navy Excellence Awards during World War II for its production of practice bombs and cooking equipment. After the war, Bootz continued to manufacture steel products for various American companies. In 1979, production of porcelain-on-steel bathtubs, lavatories, and kitchen sinks began.
